Olympus Rolls Out 27MG Ultrasonic Thickness Gage for External Measurement of Internally Corroded Objects

0514olympusOlympus has released its 27MG Ultrasonic Thickness Gage designed for non-destructive measurement from one side of internally corroded or eroded metal pipes and structures. The 12 oz. (340 g) device offers easy, one-hand operation. The 27MG is designed for monitoring wall thickness in metal pipes, tanks, beams, and structural supports susceptible to corrosion on the inside surface. The 27MG is battery-operated and features a large, backlit LCD with easy-to-read numerals, and a color-coded keypad. Standard features include automatic probe recognition; auto zero compensation to enhance accuracy on hot surfaces; gain adjust for such sound-attenuating materials such as cast metals; differential mode; high-low alarm settings; and a min/max mode that recalls the minimum or maximum thickness at 20 measurements per second. Included is a low-cost D7910 dual element transducer for thickness measurement in many basic corrosion applications. Other dual element transducers are available for measurements on very thin or thick materials. All Olympus transducers compatible with the 27MG feature automatic probe recognition that recalls the default V-path correction. More information at www.olympus-ims.com.
